Stream to 3D by IWAHDK LTD

Use Stream to 3D with a 3D Projector

Stream to 3D can turn ordinary 2D video into a standard stereoscopic layout for a compatible 3D projector. The Windows PC performs the conversion; you choose whether to carry the result by file, HDMI or a local-network player.

Proven with projector owners. Community-reported routes include a converted Half Side-by-Side MP4 on USB, direct playback from a Windows PC and network playback through VLC. Different projector models need different combinations, so begin with one short test rather than changing an entire library.

For the wider choice of players and displays, see Players and 3D Displays.

Start with the simplest proven route

2D source → Stream to 3D Convert → Half SBS MP4 → USB or local player → compatible 3D projector

A completed file is the easiest first test because it separates conversion performance from the network and live-playback path. A Stream to 3D user successfully used this route with a JMGO P2 projector: Half Side-by-Side in an MP4 container played from USB with both picture and sound.

  1. Choose Convert and select a short familiar 2D video.
  2. Start with Half Side-by-Side, MP4 and a conventional 1080p output.
  3. Copy the completed file to USB or storage that the projector-side player can open.
  4. Start playback and select the projector's matching Side-by-Side 3D mode.
  5. Only increase resolution or change container after this baseline works.

If the picture works but audio does not, confirm the exact container and audio formats accepted by the projector. In the JMGO example, the MP4 route with compatible audio succeeded where the first MKV attempt did not.

Play directly from the Windows PC

2D source → Stream to 3D Play → Windows media player → HDMI → compatible 3D projector

Use Play when the Windows PC is connected directly to the projector or home-cinema equipment. Stream to 3D creates the packed SBS or TB/OU picture, and the projector combines the two views after you select its corresponding 3D mode.

HDMI by itself does not guarantee compatibility. The complete path must accept the selected resolution, refresh rate and stereo layout. Half SBS inside a standard 1080p signal is a practical first test because it is widely handled by conventional players and display chains.

Stream to a projector-side player

2D source → Stream to 3D Stream → local network → VLC or another compatible player → 3D projector

Use Stream when a player built into, attached to or positioned beside the projector can open the URL shown by Stream to 3D. A community member reported successful VLC streaming to an XGIMI MoGo 2 Pro after matching the player and projector settings.

Start with HTTP and AVC, connect the PC and receiving player to the same local network, and enter the complete URL displayed by Stream to 3D. Select the matching SBS or TB/OU mode at the player and projector. If network playback is unreliable, return to the completed-file route before changing conversion settings.

Kodi is also useful for completed files stored locally or on a Windows/Samba share. Real-time Kodi URL playback is more dependent on the particular Kodi version and device, so it is not the recommended first projector test.

Confirm what the projector accepts

Stream to 3D produces standard packed Side-by-Side and Top-and-Bottom/Over-Under output. The projector or the equipment feeding it must support the same layout.

  • SBS or TB/OU projector: select the same layout at both ends. A doubled image normally means the projector is still in 2D mode or has selected a different split.
  • Frame-packing-only projector: packed SBS/TB output cannot necessarily be displayed directly. The player or another part of the HDMI chain must convert or present a frame-packing mode the projector accepts.
  • Full-resolution layout: test only after Half SBS or Half TB works. A receiver or projector may scale or reject the larger packed frame.
  • Cropped or stretched image: return the player to best-fit or 1:1 scaling and check the projector's overscan and aspect-ratio settings.

One community member reported Stream to 3D converted videos working well on two DLP 3D-Link projectors. A separate frame-packing-only setup required more playback and timing adjustment, which is why the simple completed-file baseline is valuable.

Choose a conversion method

Stream to 3D offers fast real-time Temporal conversion and AI-assisted Depth Guided conversion. For Play or Stream, let the Configuration Wizard measure the selected video and PC and recommend settings that can sustain real-time viewing. Convert does not need to run in real time, so you can choose the result and processing time that suit you.

Projector quick checklist

  • Confirm that the projector supports SBS, TB/OU or the exact format supplied by the player.
  • Start with a short 1080p Half SBS MP4.
  • Prove video, audio and the projector's 3D mode before processing a full film.
  • For HDMI, check every receiver, switch or sound system in the signal path.
  • For network playback, prove the Stream to 3D URL locally before diagnosing Wi-Fi or the receiving player.
  • If real-time viewing stutters, use the Wizard or create a completed file instead.
