2D to 3D Video Conversion Examples

These examples compare Stream to 3D 6 Temporal and AI-assisted Depth Guided conversion across a deliberately varied set of 2D videos. The original footage was provided by creators through Pexels.

Viewing these examples

Every output uses the widely supported Half Side by Side layout. A normal browser window shows the left and right views beside one another; use a compatible 3D player, headset, television or desktop-to-XR route and select Side by Side mode to view the stereoscopic result correctly.

Compare each pair using the same player, viewing device and display settings. The perceived result depends on both the conversion and the viewing route interpreting the eye views, aspect ratio and scaling correctly.

Both are first-class Stream to 3D conversion methods. These examples are for comparison, not a claim that one method is universally better for every source or viewer.

Start with three examples

These three short examples provide a focused starting point: material suited to Temporal conversion, a layered scene converted with Depth Guided Quality, and the same source processed by both methods.

Motion-led Temporal

Trying the examples in a Meta Quest 3 headset

Open this page in Meta Quest Browser and download the Stream to 3D 6 Quest comparison pack (106 MB). It contains six generated Half Side by Side videos: three matched sources in a Temporal folder and the same three sources in a Depth Guided folder.

  1. Open the Quest file browser, find the ZIP in Downloads and extract it.
  2. In Downloads, select Named ordering and List view so the folders and full filenames are clearly visible.
  3. Open the extracted Stream to 3D 6 - Quest Comparison Examples folder.
  4. Choose either the Temporal or Depth Guided folder. Use the ... option to the right of a video name, select Open With, then select Media Player.
  5. In Media Player, select the settings icon in the bottom-right corner, then select Projection and 3D Left Right.
  6. Compare files with the same leading number and subject name in the Temporal and Depth Guided folders.

SKYBOX VR Video Player can also open the extracted files; select its left/right Side by Side 3D mode. The package contains the same viewing instructions, checksums and links to the original Pexels source records. The original 2D files are not redistributed.

Natural water motion
