Virtual Desktop Screen Capture Recorder Dual Monitor Stream to 3D Demo
This demo is running on an i7 laptop with a 3060 GPU. The laptop has no external monitor, but is instead configured with a HDMI dummy plug to act as an external monitor for Windows. This is to demonstrate operation in cases where you do not have access to an external monitor or space is restricted. The process would also work with a real external monitor connected to the laptop.
Steps:
- Start Virtual Desktop streamer app on laptop/PC.
- Put on VR headset (Quest 3 in this case).
- Start Virtual Desktop in headset (all other steps are conducted within the headset via Virtual Desktop)
- Click on "Add Monitor" in Virtual Desktop.
- This should add the dummy plug monitor (or external monitor display if you are using one).
- Run your 2D media player on your main PC display (in the demo I have used Plex) and queue up your video.
- Start Stream to 3D on the dummy plug monitor (configured to 4K resolution in this case).
- Use the Play function and the screen-capture-recorder.s3dsc file (created early).
- Play the 2D content in your media player on your main display.
- Switch Virtual Desktop into either Full SBS, or Half SBS/TB corresponding to the 3D format being output by Stream to 3D.
- You can then watch your media in virtual desktop in both 2D on your main display and in 3D on the dummy plug monitor display.
- Make sure to drag the MPC-HC player instanced launched by Stream to 3D across to the dummy plug monitor and make it full screen.
- Make sure that the appropriate 3D display mode is selected in Virtual desktop corresponding to the format being output from Stream to 3D via MPC-HC.
