Stream to 3D — Licensing & Activation Troubleshooting

This page covers the most common licensing/activation issues and what to do next. If you see an LVE0xx code, also check Error Codes (LVE0xx).

Contents

How licensing works (high level)

  • Stream to 3D validates your entitlement against the Stream to 3D licensing server (“Manager”).
  • An internet connection may be required for verification/activation.
  • If you see an “Update Available” message, update to the latest build for your store/edition before troubleshooting further.

Store differences (Steam vs Gumroad/Itch/etc)

Steam

  • Steam builds use Steam entitlements for licensing (you typically don’t manually enter a license key).
  • If Stream to 3D prompts for an unlock/re-check, use the in-app Refresh action (when offered) and ensure Steam is running and up to date.

Gumroad / Itch / other stores

  • Non-Steam builds typically use a license key provided by the store (often in your receipt email).
  • Some editions/add-ons may require an extra “Link” step (entering an add-on key) depending on where you purchased and what you own.

If you’re not sure what you purchased (or which edition/build you installed), start with Support and include your store and purchase details.

Install limit (LVE022)

LVE022 means your license appears to have reached the maximum number of installs.

  • Stream to 3D licenses are intended to allow installation on up to 3 machines.
  • Reinstalling Windows (or wiping app preferences) can make the system look like a new installation.
  • If you hit the limit due to a reinstall/move, contact support to reset your install count.

Server/communication errors (LVE023)

LVE023 indicates a technical error communicating with the licensing server.

  • Check internet connectivity.
  • Temporarily disable VPN/proxy/ad-blocking DNS if you use them.
  • Check firewall/endpoint security isn’t blocking Stream to 3D.
  • Retry after updating to the latest version.

Other common licensing codes

These codes are explained in detail on Error Codes (LVE0xx). Common examples:

  • LVE018 — missing key or machine registration mismatch (can happen after reinstall or settings wipe).
  • LVE020 — license key does not match product/edition (wrong installer for the key).
  • LVE004–LVE007 — subscription ended/cancelled/failed/refunded (store/billing state).

Before contacting support

To resolve licensing issues quickly, include:

  • Your store (Steam/Gumroad/Itch/etc) and what you purchased (subscription vs one-time, edition name if known).
  • Your Stream to 3D version (and whether it’s the Steam build).
  • The exact error code/message shown (e.g. LVE022).
  • Logs: see Logs & Diagnostics.
